Creative Headboard Ideas - How to Make Unique Headboards

Bed Headboards - The Conventional or the Unique?

The usual headboard is basically a piece that's attached to the head end of a bed and fitted to support your back whilst sitting up reading, or as a structure to place your plush pillows against.

Many people desire one that's an interesting decorative piece, something to enhance their bedroom decoration be it simple and functional, or intricate and slightly uncomfortable. As long as it looks good, it's fine.

But many of those types cost a lot of money, and if you are on a shoe string budget, you can still create a headboard that's becomes an attractive and pleasing part of your bedroom furniture.

Headboards - Focal Points of Well Designed Bedrooms
If you are in the process of changing your old headboard, or wish to create something fresh and different for your bed, you will find some useful headboard ideas here.

Headboards form the focal point in any well designed bedroom, so coming up with unique and attractive headboard ideas for your bed without expending a lot of money shouldn't be so hard once you get your creative juices running.

However, if you don't have a clue as to how you can create awesome headboard ideas for your bed, and you don't want to buy the typical headboards on the market, try to consider these simple ways of putting up a great idea that will enhance not only your bed, but the entire bedroom in a fantastic way.

Headboard Ideas Using Wall Decals

You can create a number of styles with a wide variety of décor items. For instance with carefully chosen wall art decals, you can create themes ranging from the fun and whimsical, to the sophisticated, mood enhancing, and dramatic.

You may feel more comfortable with a board placed against the wall to serve as headboard instead of applying art directly on the wall. If that's the case, get a cheap board (3/4") in any colour you desire ensuring all edges are lipped, and then apply the decal directly on board.

Voila! You've created a beautiful headboard for your bed.

Headboards created using decals works great for almost any kind of bedroom, and make pretty pictures if used in children's rooms and babies' nurseries.

Wall art, whether the contemporary designs, or the vintage inspired ones, can certainly add a touch of style to a large or small bedroom, giving the room a designer look.(Source:http://www.squidoo.com/creative-headboard-ideas-how-to-make-unique-headboards)

The Pianist Davide Martello Calms Istanbul Tensions

ISTANBUL — After days of being the target of tear gas and police water cannons, protesters in Gezi Park, in Taksim Square here, were tense on Wednesday night, girded for conflict. Instead they got a piano performance.

Davide Martello, a German musician in the new age, Paul Winter mold, arrived with a three-man team, hauling a grand piano in a trailer. After unloading the instrument and placing it inside the entry to the park, he began to play.

People stopped to listen. The restless crowd began to calm and organize around Mr. Martello. Soon photos and videos of the performance were zinging around the globe, ending up on blogs, online news sites and Facebook pages.

By the time Thursday night rolled round, word had gotten out, and according to estimates from those there, 1,500 people gathered in the park to hear this unknown 31-year-old pianist play again.

Speaking during a pause in the performance, Mr. Martello explained that he was on a self-directed world tour, hoping to play in major cities across the globe. He had been in Sofia, Bulgaria, on Wednesday morning and wanted to stop by Istanbul to witness the protests, which started as an effort to save Gezi Park from destruction and morphed into a broader expression of dissatisfaction with the authoritarian tactics of Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan.

“The idea is to inspire politicians through music,” Mr. Martello said, wearing a fedora and dressed in red in honor of the Turkish flag.

The square has long been a destination for gatherings and performances, but Mr. Martello — who played for 14 hours straight, starting Thursday evening — had an unusual and mesmerizing effect.

“Police in the background and this grand piano in the middle,” said Zeynep Turkmen, a 24-year old protester who has been staying in the park for more than a week. “This guy is writing history here.”

Police officers, there to protect the nearby monument bearing the statue of Mustafa Kemal Ataturk, the founder of the secular Turkish Republic, joined the audience, resting on their riot shields.

The five haircuts of man

With the statistical rigour expected of a survey conducted by a haircare product manufacturer, Fudge has now apparently confirmed that men try five different hair styles before settling on the one they want to keep, at the age of 32. If you think about Rod Stewart, Ozzy Osbourne and Mick Jagger then you may consider that Fudge has a point. Think Elton John, David Beckham and Boris Johnson and it sounds like … Elton had his thatch replanted in the 80s, Beckham has five different hairstyles a year and Boris has had the same one since he was born.

I also suspect that Fudge may be being rather loose in its interpretation of the word style. Was my schoolboy hair a style? Hardly. It just sort of grew and was then cut. Occasionally it was brushed and at times a parting might appear for an hour or so. Once or twice I stood in front of a mirror wondering if I could make it more like Ziggy Stardust-era Bowiebefore recognising the hopelessness of the situation. The only real aspirations I had for my hair were that it should be as long as possible; which, given the attentions of my school and parents, turned out to be not very.

Come the age of 18 in 1974, I did grow my hair long. This, I suppose, was a style of sorts. Albeit one that required me to do absolutely nothing at all to it. I saw it as more of a statement that my hair was now mine and that I rather hoped to be identified as a sensitive middle-class hippy. Which turned out to be not quite so fun as I imagined as I got rather more attention from the police than women. So I then cut it short to make me look a bit like a punk. Another cut that required no maintenance. Apart from once dyeing it blue for a couple of weeks.

And that was about it really. Since then, my hair has pretty much stayed the same. Sometimes a bit shorter, sometimes a bit longer. It's not a lack of vanity: more a sense of complacency. Or perhaps surrender. My main objective over the past 20 years has been to mitigate the creep of hair loss; having large tufts sprouting from the sides of your head while the top is almost bare is never a good look. All of which suggests that I have had four hairstyles in my life so far - if you can call them hairstyles; a more accurate description might be a hair-shape. Perhaps number five will be when it all falls out.

Joanna Krupa Wears Revealing Mullet Dress to Wed Romain Zago in $1m Fairytale Ceremony

She's not exactly known for her conservative fashion choices.

So when it came to choosing a dress for her big day, Real Housewives Of Miami star Joanna Krupa stuck to what she knows, and wore a revealing mullet-style dress to walk down the aisle.

Prior to wedding boyfriend Romain Zago, Joanna posed up for an impromptu photoshoot at the hotel, but appeared to be struggling somewhat to contain her assets in the low-cut strapless number by Chagoury.

The dress featured a jewel-encrusted bodice which hugged Joanna's figure before spilling out into a ruffled skirt from the waist.

And in order to show off her slim figure, Joanna, 34, opted for a dress with a mullet cut - in the fact that it was longer at the back than at the front.

Clearly keen to flaunt her bridal status, Joanna added some bling to the outfit with a white veil with jewelled headband, and diamante slingback heels.

Joanna left her blonde hair loose for the big day and kept her make-up plain and simple with a slight smoky eye and pink lip.

But while Joanna's dress had the impact she desired, the long and ruffled train caused some issues as she made her way down to the ceremony.

In fact, she had to enlist the help of one of the official wedding photographers to hold up the back of the gown to ensure she didn't trip over the lengthy skirt.

At points, Joanna was seen resting her tired feet as she sat on one of the wooden chairs while waiting for the ceremony to begin.

And clearly not worried about the threat that seeing a bride in her dress before the ceremony being bad luck, Joanna's fiancé Romain Zago was seen proudly snapping pictures of her in her wedding outfit before he pair officially tied the knot.

Joanna was a stunning vision as she walked down a floating, flower-decked aisle across from the hotel’s large swimming pool, which was surrounded by candles.

The Polish-American model carried a bouquet of white roses - and Madonna’s most hated flower hydrangeas – to match the floral arrangements created by Petals LA which surrounded the venue.

Club investor Romain, who has been dating Joanna on and off for the past six years, looked dapper in his black tuxedo for the occasion.

Clearly smitten with his bride, Romain was seen pulling the blonde beauty in close, before sealing their marriage with a tender kiss in front of the guests.

The couple are said to have splurged a staggering $1million on their dream 'fairytale wedding' on America’s West Coast.

They wed in front of 150 guests at the exclusive Park Hyatt Aviara Resort in Carlsbad, California, in an early evening ceremony.

Joanna's Bravo co-stars Lisa Hochstein, Adriana DeMoura and Alexia Echevarria were all in attendance for the romantic occasion which was recorded for viewers’ entertainment.

Joanna’s bash, which saw a multi-course and dancing reception in the grand ballroom, will be screened on the third season of the programme.

However one lucky fan got to see the action in person after winning a competition held by Joanna and her spouse.

Vicki Goldblatt was selected for free travel from her hometown of Glencoe, Illinois as well as accommodation and other expenses paid.

She scored the gig by tweeting canine enthusiast Joanna a picture of her favourite animal.

Top Tips for a Fashionable Summer 2013

Lighter, whiter, the better

Pastel shades and light colored clothes reflect light while keeping your body cool. White clothing is popular during the summer. A lot of women choose to buy white linen summer dresses, pastel shaded blouses, tees and tanks. When you choose to wear white during the summer, buy a fresh batch of clothes for the season so they do not look old or stained. Even a single sweaty stain can spoil the entire fashion appeal of the outfit. Keep your whites and lights fresh and clean.

As you will be choosing to wear light colored clothes like linen coloured shirts, linen pants or linen shorts, it is best to avoid wearing bright colored underwear. White undergarments under white clothes only make the look a fashion disaster. Peeking bra straps are another way to spoil an extremely stylish and fabulous look. A good option would be a convertible bra that you can wear with any outfit. Choose skin colored undergarments and right fitting brassieres for your clothes to ensure that you look ravishing in any dress.

Aim for elegance instead of glamor

It is quite hot during the summer because of global warming. It is completely understandable if you want to wear revealing clothes to cool your skin. However, it is important to remember that any outfit you wear needs to achieve a certain level of elegance as you would have to attend work or class during the weekdays. Opt for long frocks, linen dresses, skirts and harem pants that will allow good air circulation to keep you cool. For a casual day out, you could choose to wear shorts or skirts with a tee to feel comfortable in the heat.

Avoid those harmful rays

A reason to avoid exposing too much skin during the summer is to protect yourself from the sun rays. While dressing for outdoors, sport a nice sunglass, fedora and scarf so you can be well protected from the UV A and B.

Remember to use a lot of sunscreen this summer and enjoy this season while it lasts.

Fruity fairer complexion

Fruits are rich in enzymes, acids and antioxidants that help in improving skin complexion. Mix equal parts of orange and lemon juice with a cup of yoghurt. Apply the mask on your face and relax for fifteen minutes. Rinse with cold water. You can alternate between face masks of tomato juice, avocado, banana, strawberries, papaya, and more every week for a fairer glowing complexion.(Fahion source: http://www.articlesbase.com/fashion-articles/top-tips-for-a-fashionable-summer-2013-6619805.html)

Make your father's day with the perfect gift

Finding the perfect gift for Father's Day is often a thankless task. Whilst on Mothering Sunday, there are a handy set of fall back presents, that whilst a little clichhd, are almost guaranteed to be welcomed, the equivalent festival for dads doesn't have the same convenience.

A present which lets your dad know how much he means to you, whilst remaining useful or indeed practical can often lead you down a dangerous path; yes your father wears a tie to the office, but does that really mean he wants a new one for a present? The same can be said for DIY equipment, which could be seen as a hint that there is something you may need his help with. If you're stumped for some ideas, try one of the following.
A pair of glasses for father
If you father has trouble with reading, a pair of glasses for father is necessary. Pick a pair for your father now!

A quality pen, elegant and useful
Whether or not your father does a lot of writing, special pens are often the sort of present which is treasured for a long time. A quality fountain pen, engraved with a message, or your dad's name is a thoughtful gift that should last a lifetime and above all be practical and useful.

The choice of quality pens online, fit to be given as gifts, has rocketed in recent years, with designs ranging from traditional black and gold fountain pens to ultra-modern designs. Choose a style which matches your dad's personality.

A quality tipple
If your dad enjoys a drop of wine or beer every now and again, why not invest in a starter kit for his own home brewery. Kits available online are a far cry from the home brewing equipment of times gone by, with simple to follow instructions and incredibly straight forward methods, your dad can be brewing his own ales within half an hour of opening the gift.

Whether wine, beer or cider is the tipple of choice, a good kit provides all of the equipment necessary to make a start on the first batch. All that is needed is lots of water, a fairly warm space for the fermentation to take place and the patience to not muck about with the ale whilst it is brewing. That patience will be rewarded with the sweet taste of victory, as the brew comes out successfully.

An experience he will never forget
If your dad really is the man who has everything, providing him with an experience day is a fantastic gift, which can be tailored to his tastes. For example, petrolheads will jump at the chance to ride in a two person racing car driven by a pro racer, before potentially getting his hands on the wheel. Dads with more sedate taste would be enamoured by a day's hot air ballooning or punting along a river. Whatever your dad's interests, you will find a day out which suits him online.

Whether you choose to plump for fountain pens, home brew kits, experience days or grandchildren vouchers, remember that it is obviously the thought that counts on father's day and anything you get for him will be fondly received.
